There are eight cart ruts in a region with several quarries, north-east of Misraħ Għar il-Kbir.

Two cart ruts are in this area. One pair runs from N to S, the other one from W to E.

Three stretches can be seen along Triq San Lawrenz ta’Gholja, one on the cliff’s edge of a quarry.

Misraħ Għar il-Kbir
This is the most extensive and complex system of cart ruts on the islands. It is known by local people as Girgenti cart ruts, tourists call it Clapham Junction. A clearly visible, deep track runs in this direction from N-W, where it forks after 35 metres. After the fork, one lane runs south, the other south-east.
